American Mahjong has become one of the fastest-growing social games in the country, bringing friends together for fun, strategy, and friendly competition. Over the course of two interactive sessions, you'll learn the fundamentals of the game in a welcoming and supportive environment while gaining the confidence needed to join a Mahjong table and play independently.
Whether you've never touched a tile or have always been curious about the game, this series will guide you step-by-step through the essential rules, tile recognition, gameplay, and beginner strategies.
During this two-part series, participants will:
- Become familiar with Mahjong tiles and their meanings
- Learn how to read and use the National Mahjong League card
- Understand the rules, terminology, and flow of the game
- Practice building hands and recognizing winning combinations
- Develop beginning strategies and game-play techniques
- Gain hands-on experience through guided play
- Build confidence to participate in future Mahjong games and groups

About the Instructor:
This series is taught by Jennifer Peterson, a licensed counselor, educator, and experienced Mahjong instructor. Jennifer is known for her patient, engaging teaching style and her ability to make learning Mahjong enjoyable and accessible for beginners.
No prior Mahjong experience is necessary. Beginners are welcome!
