Join award-winning author and historian Jim Duffy for a compelling and educational talk honoring Black History Month, centered on the life, legacy, and journeys of Harriet Tubman and the Underground Railroad on the Delmarva Peninsula.
Drawing from his acclaimed book, Tubman Travels: 32 Underground Railroad Journeys on Delmarva, Jim brings to life inspiring, true stories of courage, resilience, and the relentless pursuit of freedom. Through vivid storytelling and historical insight, he will guide us across Maryland’s Eastern Shore and Delaware, highlighting key sites and landscapes that connect present-day travelers to the brave men and women who risked everything in their fight against slavery.
Jim Duffy's newly updated second edition of Tubman Travels incorporates recent archaeological discoveries, expanded historical research, and newly recognized sites that deepen our understanding of Harriet Tubman’s role and the Underground Railroad’s impact in our region.
This author talk offers a meaningful opportunity to reflect, learn, and honor an essential chapter of American history—right here on Delmarva.
